Kuwait deports 3,000 expatriates monthly due to violations
Kuwait is deporting nearly 3,000 expatriates each month, according to new data. The deportations happen after court orders linked to criminal cases or for administrative reasons deemed beneficial for the public. When sponsors or deportees cannot provide travel tickets, the Interior Ministry will pay for them. The cost of the ticket will then be claimed from the sponsor, whether a company or an individual. Until the ticket is paid, the sponsor cannot hire new workers from abroad. The Interior Ministry's Deportation Department aims to process deportees quickly. On average, a deportee spends about three days in custody if they have a passport. However, some cases may take longer due to slow embassy responses or legal obligations for court appearances. For those without travel documents, the Correctional Institutions authority will work with the Foreign Ministry to contact their embassy and obtain necessary travel papers. Kuwait has also opened a new deportation facility, which can hold about 1,000 men and 400 women. This facility offers essential services, including health clinics.
