Kuwait raises KD1.7 million for debt relief campaign
A donation campaign in Kuwait has raised over KD1.7 million, which is about $5.5 million, in just one week. This effort began on March 14 to help people with unpaid debts. So far, 1,100 debtors have registered for assistance. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs reported that the campaign has seen contributions from nearly 9,580 donors. However, there were some delays in processing applications due to high demand on the electronic registration system. The ministry is improving this system to handle more cases. To ensure the funds reach those truly in need, the campaign has set strict rules. Individuals who have previously received aid may have their applications rejected. The campaign focuses on Kuwaiti citizens with financial issues, but it excludes debts from illegal activities or telecom companies. All applications must be submitted online through a central platform. The ministry closely supervises the process to ensure transparency and compliance with their standards. Only those with proper documentation proving their financial difficulties are eligible for support.
