Kuwaiti teacher jailed for medical leave fraud scheme
A Kuwaiti teacher has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a fraud scheme involving forged medical leave documents. The Court of Cassation upheld her conviction for unlawfully collecting tens of thousands of dinars in salaries over eight years. The teacher, employed from February 2017 to May 2022, submitted 17 fake medical recommendations to receive exceptional leave. This allowed her to illegally obtain 68,000 dinars in salary while absent from work. In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of 100,000 Kuwaiti dinars and ordered her to repay double the amount she received unlawfully. Investigators found she colluded with an accomplice and received help from public employees.
