KVS teacher dies by suicide due to dowry harassment
A 29-year-old teacher, Anvita Sharma, from Ghaziabad died by suicide after alleged harassment from her husband and in-laws. Her family became worried when they could not reach her after receiving a troubling message. They informed her husband, Kaushik, who found the door locked when he returned home. In her final message, Anvita expressed her deep concerns for her son and described her struggles with her husband. She felt that no matter what she did for him, it was never enough. She shared that Kaushik wanted her to be more focused on his family, calling her a "working maid" instead of a partner. Anvita's father has filed a police report against Kaushik and his parents, alleging dowry harassment and cruelty. He claimed to have given them Rs 26 lakh as dowry and mentioned that her husband and in-laws demanded more, leading to severe mental and physical abuse. Following the incident, Kaushik and his father were arrested, while his mother is currently at large. The police found Anvita after her family broke into the home through a window following their failed attempts to contact her. This heartbreaking case highlights ongoing issues of domestic abuse and dowry demands in India.
