Kyrgios accepts Djokovic's invitation for doubles match
Nick Kyrgios has responded positively to Novak Djokovic's invitation for a doubles match. Djokovic, a 24-time Major champion, mentioned his desire to play together at a tournament in Belgrade later this year. The two players have developed a friendship over the years, especially after Kyrgios defended Djokovic during his difficult times before the 2022 Australian Open. They finally teamed up in January at the Brisbane International, where they won one match before being eliminated. Djokovic expressed his eagerness to partner with Kyrgios again. "I do really wish that we play another time [in] doubles," he said. Kyrgios quickly replied on X, saying, "I’m in partner," confirming his willingness to play in Belgrade. For now, both players are focusing on their singles matches at the Miami Open. Kyrgios secured his first singles win since October 2022 by beating qualifier Mackenzie McDonald. He will face No. 22 seed Karen Khachanov next. Djokovic, the fourth seed, will start his campaign against Australian Rinky Hijikata on Friday. This is his first Miami Open since 2019.
