La Castellana town in Negros Occidental reported losses of at least P194 million due to the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon and drought conditions from El Niño. Over 1,600 farmers and fishermen were affected, particularly in several local barangays. The damage included P191 million to crops, P947,000 to fisheries, and P2.1 million to livestock. The drought began earlier in 2024, followed by the volcanic eruption on June 3.
