Labour urged to prevent £23 billion economic loss
Labour has been urged to act quickly to prevent a potential £23 billion loss to the British economy. The domestic holiday sector, which contributes £31 billion annually, is facing a significant decline in trips and spending. A report predicts a 32% drop in domestic holiday trips by 2025, risking 300,000 jobs. Campsites and rural areas are particularly affected, with a 40.8% decrease in visitor numbers expected. Back British Holidays has launched a petition for government support to protect the staycation market. Key sectors like caravanning and camping could lose over £1.2 billion, while coastal areas may see a revenue drop of more than £700 million.
