LACMA announces opening date for David Geffen Galleries designed by Peter Zumthor

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will open the David Geffen Galleries, designed by Peter Zumthor, in April 2026. Construction began in 2019 and is now about 90 percent complete, with major work expected to finish by late 2024. The new galleries will expand LACMA's exhibition space from 130,000 to 220,000 square feet. The design features seven interconnected pavilions and includes a theater, educational facilities, dining areas, and landscaped outdoor spaces. This project is part of LACMA's long-term redevelopment, following previous expansions in 2008 and 2010. The new galleries aim to enhance public access and create a modern museum experience in Los Angeles.
