LaFargeville girls basketball wins first state title
The LaFargeville girls basketball team made history by winning their first-ever state title. They achieved this victory in the NYSPHSAA Class D championship game against Northville, held on March 21, 2025. Emeline Barton was a key player, scoring 25 points to lead her team. As the game progressed, LaFargeville built a seven-point lead going into the final quarter. However, this lead shrank to just two points with only two minutes left. Despite this pressure, the Red Knights maintained their composure. In the end, the team secured a 43-37 win, bringing home the championship trophy. This win marks a significant moment in the program's history as it was their first state title in the school's 100-year existence.
