Laguna Beach improves to 10-0 with win
Laguna Beach High School's baseball team achieved a narrow victory against Woodbridge High School in a Pacific Coast League game. The final score was 2-1, and this win improves Laguna Beach's record to 10-0. In the game, senior pitcher Becker Sybirski shined for the Breakers, completing the game and striking out ten batters while allowing only one walk and four hits. One of the runs Woodbridge scored was unearned. Sybirski emphasized the importance of commanding all his pitches, which contributed to his success on the mound. Laguna Beach scored both of its runs in the second inning. Dane Jenal reached base due to an error and advanced to third base after a series of plays. Dylan Yencho eventually drove in Jenal and Parker Moore with a hit, giving the Breakers a 2-0 lead. Woodbridge managed to score one run in the fourth inning, with shortstop Nolan Stottlemyer hitting a double and later scoring on a fielder's choice. Despite a late chance in the sixth inning, the Warriors could not bring home another run. Sybirski's strong performance brought his personal record to 4-0, and he currently has a low earned-run average of 0.83. Laguna Beach's coach, Ryan Belanto, noted that his team is enjoying the game and not feeling pressure about their undefeated record.
