Lakhimpur Kheri officer rescues five teens from drowning
A police officer in Lakhimpur Kheri, India, saved five teenagers from drowning in the Sharda River. Tragically, one of the youths, 18-year-old Dharmendra Kumar, drowned during the incident. The event occurred on Monday afternoon when six friends went to the river to swim. Dharmendra slipped into deeper water and began to drown. His friends tried to help him but were also caught in the fast current. Station officer Ravindra Sonkar quickly responded to the crisis. He jumped into the river along with a constable and a village guard. They worked together to rescue the five teens. Sonkar managed to pull them to safety, but Dharmendra did not survive despite being rushed to the hospital. Officials praised Sonkar's bravery. The circle officer stated he would recommend Sonkar for a commendation from the Director General of Police.
