Lakki Marwat police successfully repel terrorist attack
A terrorist attack on a police station in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was successfully repelled, according to a police statement released on Saturday. The attack occurred around 12:45 AM and involved an exchange of gunfire. The police responded quickly, causing the attackers to flee without causing any harm. The group involved is referred to as Fitna Al Khawarij, a term used for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This incident is part of a concerning trend, as Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the TTP ended a ceasefire with the government in late 2022. Lakki Marwat District Police Officer Muhammad Jawad Ishaq praised the police for their bravery and fast response in preventing further violence. This attack is one of several that have taken place this month in surrounding districts, including Peshawar and Bannu. Earlier this week, authorities reported that police had successfully thwarted additional attacks on police stations and checkpoints in the area.
