Larry Lamb shares challenges filming Christmas special scenes
Larry Lamb recently shared behind-the-scenes details about filming the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special. Lamb, who plays Mick Shipman, revealed that the cast filmed some scenes over 70 times due to uncontrollable laughter among the actors. In an interview, he expressed that one of his favorite moments was Mick's speech during Smithy’s stag do. The emotional speech made viewers feel nostalgic and showcased the show's clever writing. Larry feels a strong connection to the character, stating that Mick's calmness has influenced his own personality. During filming, the atmosphere grew chaotic when cast members began giggling, prompting Larry to step in as Mick and restore order. Despite the challenges, he fondly remembered the experience and the close-knit nature of the cast, who still communicate through a WhatsApp group. Larry also made it clear that there will not be another Gavin & Stacey special, emphasizing that the show had a complete and satisfying ending. He is now focusing on important issues beyond acting, including advocating for better end-of-life care for cancer patients, stemming from a personal experience with his late brother. Additionally, Larry is preparing to release his debut novel, which he describes as a reflection of his experiences in the entertainment industry. Looking ahead, he aims to slow down his work commitments as he embraces a new chapter in life.
