Las Vegas man sentenced for box cutter attack in Albany

The incident occurred in December 2023, resulting in serious injuries to the instructor. Gatlin pleaded no contest to attempted second-degree assault, with a weapon charge dismissed under a plea agreement. The instructor required over two dozen stitches and reported ongoing physical and mental effects from the attack, including significant financial losses. The attack happened during an argument over a store visit, leading to a struggle in the truck's cab. Gatlin claimed he acted in self-defense, but a witness reported seeing him strike the victim repeatedly.
