Last Epoch delays Season 2 to avoid Path of Exile
Last Epoch, a rival game to Diablo 4, has delayed its Season 2 update to avoid competition with Path of Exile 2. Originally set to launch on April 2, Last Epoch has now pushed its release to April 17, following a big update announcement from Path of Exile 2. In contrast, Last Epoch did not change its date to account for Diablo 4's upcoming Season 8, which is launching on April 15. This decision suggests that Last Epoch developers do not view Diablo 4 as a serious threat to their player base. Diablo 4 has been facing challenges. Despite its historical success in the action role-playing game (ARPG) genre, players and even its creator have criticized it for being too easy. In response, Blizzard, the game's developer, plans to raise the difficulty in Season 8 to attract more players. This includes slower leveling and tougher challenges. Last Epoch, a smaller studio, expressed concern for its "friends in the ARPG space," specifically Path of Exile 2, but not for Diablo 4. This indicates that, while Diablo 4 has high player numbers, Last Epoch feels more competitive pressure from Path of Exile 2, which is seen as a significant player in the market.
