Lawyer killed outside home in Hyderabad

A 55-year-old lawyer was killed outside his home in Hyderabad on Monday. The victim, Errabapu Esrayal, was attacked by an electrician named Dastagiri, who repeatedly stabbed him. Esrayal was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries. Police have detained Dastagiri, although they did not confirm the arrest. The investigation is still ongoing. Esrayal was known for representing clients in court in the Rangareddy district. According to police, Dastagiri had been watching Esrayal. He allegedly attacked Esrayal while he was standing outside his house. The attack was linked to a personal dispute involving Dastagiri and a woman, who had worked for Esrayal. Dastagiri suspected Esrayal of hiding information about the woman after an affair with her husband led to Dastagiri losing his job. The Bar Council of Telangana has condemned the murder and is calling for a thorough investigation. They are also urging the government to create an Advocates Protection Act to help safeguard lawyers. In response to the murder, members of the Telangana high court advocates association plan to stop working on Tuesday to protest the violence against their profession.
