Lea Salonga to star as The Witch in Philippine production of 'Into the Woods'

Lea Salonga will play The Witch in the upcoming Philippine production of "Into the Woods," marking her return to local theater after six years. She previously portrayed the role 30 years ago and expressed excitement about revisiting it. The production will open in August at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater. It follows the success of Theatre Group Asia's "Request sa Radyo," which featured Salonga and actress Dolly de Leon. "Into the Woods," a musical by Stephen Sondheim, combines fairy tale characters with mature themes. Salonga is also known for voicing Disney princesses and has released a holiday album recently.
