Leamington woman remembered for faith and kindness after homicide
Friends and family are remembering Anita Goodings, an 83-year-old woman who was found dead in her apartment in Leamington. She was known for her kindness, faith, and generous spirit. Goodings was discovered last week after police were called for a welfare check. Louise Waggott, a longtime friend, said, "She was a loving person, a quiet person." Another friend, Carolina Hummel, praised her giving nature, saying, "If you needed anything, she would give you the shirt off her back." Police have arrested Kevin Goodings, 61, and charged him with second-degree murder. Kevin is one of Anita's two sons and had been living with her. Friends said she took him in when he needed a place to stay, showing her caring nature. Anita Goodings was originally from northern Ontario. She had a close circle of friends, a boyfriend, and a supportive church community. Waggott said, "She was well liked in church" and was always the first to help others. The friends shared more than three decades of memories with Goodings, including attending church together and playing games. Waggott emphasized the importance of remembering her friend for her goodness and thoughtfulness. The police investigation into Goodings' death is ongoing, with the community mourning the loss of a beloved member.
