Jim Tunney, a renowned NFL referee, passed away at the age of 95 on December 12 at his home in Pebble Beach, California. He was the oldest living retired NFL referee and had a career spanning 31 years. Tunney officiated three Super Bowls and many historic games, including the "Ice Bowl" in 1967 and "The Fumble" in 1987. He was the youngest referee hired by the NFL at age 30 in 1960. After retiring in 1990, Tunney remained engaged with NFL officiating. He also worked as a sports columnist and authored several books.
