Libby softball team targets state tournament this season

The Libby softball team is aiming for a spot in the state tournament this season. Last year, they missed the chance by just four runs. Head coach Kellen MacDonald is optimistic about the team's potential, noting that injuries to older players impacted their performance. This season, the Loggers have a young roster with only three seniors. Most of the team consists of enthusiastic sophomores and freshmen. Despite their youth, MacDonald believes they are driven and ready to compete in the tough Northwest Conference. The coach praised the team’s speed and enthusiasm. He described them as "hungry dogs" eager to play together and succeed. The team emphasizes accountability and chemistry, which will be crucial as they face strong competitors. Coaching staff members are excited about early practices this season. They are already focusing on improving specific skills rather than making major changes. MacDonald expressed that the team’s talent and energy give them hope for a successful season. The Libby Loggers will begin their season at home on March 29 against Frenchtown. The junior varsity game starts at 1 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 3 p.m.
