Lightning strikes Texas home six times, causes fire
A Texas home was hit by lightning six times over the weekend. This unusual event was captured by a neighbor's doorbell camera. The strikes caused the house to catch fire early Saturday morning in Belton. The fire started at around 5:15 a.m. on March 15. The homeowners heard a loud noise before they noticed flames in their attic. Thankfully, they escaped safely. The Bell County Fire Marshal’s Office reported that the fire was quickly controlled, but the home suffered damage from both fire and water. According to officials, the home experienced a "negative energy lightning strike," which was identified as the cause of the fire. Loranette and Terry Baker, the homeowners, were asleep when the strikes occurred. Loranette described the sound as loud, like a bomb. She thought something had exploded. After reviewing their doorbell camera footage, Loranette found answers to many questions about the incident. This is not the first lightning strike in the neighborhood; another home was struck in 2022. Loranette expressed gratitude for the safety of her family and the outcome of the situation.
