Lily Duffill's homer leads Chartiers Valley to victory
Lily Duffill, a recruit for Penn State, hit her first home run of the season, helping Chartiers Valley win 5-2 against Blackhawk in nonsection softball on Friday. Ava Dunlap contributed with a double and three RBIs, while Annabelle Helt added two hits for Chartiers Valley. In other games, Ambridge defeated Penn Hills 10-6, with Jaylynn Campbell hitting a homer. Armstrong won against West Shamokin 15-4, led by Jordyn Klingensmith’s strong performance. Baldwin achieved a decisive 11-0 victory over Butler, thanks to Camryn Temme's no-hitter. Bearden from Tennessee won two high-scoring matches, beating Bentworth 12-7 and Burgettstown 19-8. Olivia Peabody from Beaver helped her team secure a win against Montour, contributing a home run and six RBIs. In girls lacrosse, Pine-Richland dominated Fox Chapel with a score of 19-6. Cate Gentile was the standout player, scoring seven goals. Several baseball games also took place. Ambridge narrowly won against New Brighton 4-3, while Ellwood City took down West Allegheny 8-3. Canon-McMillan shut out Seton LaSalle, winning 10-0. Overall, it was an exciting day for high school sports, with multiple teams showcasing their talent across various games.
