Limerick council rejects Dunnes Stores' expansion plans
Limerick council has denied Dunnes Stores' application to expand its Childers Road outlet. The proposed expansion would have added 645 square meters of retail space by taking over a neighboring vacant store. Planners cited concerns that the expansion could negatively impact the city center's vitality. The decision aligns with the Limerick Suburbs Retail Strategy, which aims to protect the city center from developments that could undermine it. Dunnes Stores has operated at this location since 2005, selling food, homeware, and clothing. The company had argued that the expansion was necessary for improving store layout and customer experience.
