Lions re-sign cornerback Khalil Dorsey to enhance secondary
The Detroit Lions announced on Thursday that they have re-signed cornerback Khalil Dorsey. This move is part of the team’s efforts to strengthen their secondary. Dorsey’s re-signing follows the addition of veteran cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, who previously played for the San Francisco 49ers. At 26 years old, Dorsey has played for the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants before finding his place with the Lions. He is recognized as a valuable player in both the defensive rotation and on special teams. Last season, Dorsey played in 13 games, taking the field for 248 snaps on special teams. He also recorded a career-high 73 snaps on defense, finishing the season with 14 tackles and two passes defended. Additionally, he returned four kicks for 159 yards. Dorsey’s 2024 season was cut short due to an ankle injury suffered in a game against the Buffalo Bills. He was injured in Week 15 and had to be carted off the field. With the re-signing of Dorsey and the signing of Ya-Sin, the Lions now have seven cornerbacks under contract. This includes new addition D.J. Reed, and players Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw, Amik Robertson, and Stantley Thomas-Oliver.
