Lions re-sign defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad for 2025
Defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad will continue playing for the Detroit Lions after signing a one-year deal. This agreement is part of the Lions' effort to strengthen their team depth this offseason. Muhammad, who is nearing his eighth season in the NFL, had a strong performance last year. He joined the Lions’ practice squad in October after being released by the Dallas Cowboys. In Detroit, he quickly became an important part of their defensive line. Over nine games, including two starts, he made 11 tackles, four of which were for a loss, and recorded three sacks. With a complete offseason and training camp ahead, the Lions hope Muhammad will improve further. He will be working under new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard and defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers. Muhammad joins other retained players, like Marcus Davenport and Levi Onwuzurike, to boost the Lions' defense. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2017 and has a connection with Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who was once his coach there.
