Actors who performed in a Christmas show in Liverpool are taking legal action against the company behind the production, Sneaky Experience. They claim they are owed thousands of pounds in unpaid wages. The show, titled 'Christmas-shire', ran from November 23 to December 22, 2024, on the grounds of ACC Liverpool. According to the entertainment union Equity, the actors are owed over £27,000. The union has backed the claims and expressed concern over the financial situation. Sneaky Experience, run by Julia Benfield, has announced it will liquidate the business. Ms. Benfield stated that poor weather during the Christmas season led to a loss of revenue, leaving the company unable to pay its debts. She expressed sadness about the situation and said liquidating was not a choice but a result of circumstances beyond her control. Equity is now supporting its members in response to the liquidation. The union has filed legal claims for those still owed money and is calling for an investigation into the company's actions. Dominic Bascombe, an Equity official, mentioned there is widespread anger over how the company has treated its workers. ACC Liverpool, which only rented the space for the show, expressed regret that some actors have not been paid but stated that it is a private matter between the company and its performers. The venue has not received payment from Sneaky Experience for the rental.
