Liverpool FC seeks resident input on Anfield Road future

Liverpool Football Club is planning the future of the area around Anfield Stadium. They are currently talking to local residents about the section of Anfield Road that has been closed to cars since construction began on the stadium's expansion. The expansion project added 7,000 seats to Anfield and increased its capacity to 61,000. This work started in 2021 but faced delays when the main contractor went out of business in August 2023. The project was finally completed during the 2023/24 season. Last year, the club asked for feedback on whether to keep the section of Anfield Road permanently closed to traffic. This idea faced some opposition from residents. Now, the club has decided to conduct a more detailed survey to hear from those most affected by this road closure. LFC's managing director Andy Hughes wrote to nearby residents explaining that they want to understand how people currently use Anfield Road and what opinions they have about keeping it closed to traffic. The survey is available online and will be open until March 27. After collecting the responses, the club plans to share their findings and proposed next steps with the community.
