Liverpool urged to bid £42m for Igor Paixao

Liverpool has been advised to consider signing Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao, who is thought to be better than current winger Cody Gakpo. A former Feyenoord manager, Rob Jacobs, believes that Liverpool should bid around £42 million for the 24-year-old Brazilian. Gakpo joined Liverpool from PSV in January 2023 for £35 million. Since then, he has made significant contributions to the team, scoring 39 goals and assisting 14 times in 119 appearances. This season alone, he has scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 40 games. Jacobs claims that Paixao would strengthen Liverpool. The winger has impressed this season, scoring 11 goals and supplying 15 assists in 38 matches. He notably outperformed Manchester City’s Kyle Walker in a Champions League game earlier this season. Additionally, there are concerns that Liverpool might lose another winger, Luis Diaz. Arsenal has shown interest in Diaz, and Liverpool could consider selling him at the end of the season. Moreover, the club is looking for a new right-back, as Trent Alexander-Arnold may leave for Real Madrid. They have expressed interest in Ola Aina from Nottingham Forest. Finally, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has confirmed his move from Valencia to Liverpool, aiming to compete for the starting position.
