Lizzo claims "body positivity" has lost its meaning
Lizzo recently shared her thoughts on body positivity during an interview with Andy Cohen. She believes the term has lost its original meaning. The singer explained that many people now view "body positivity" as a code word for being fat, which she feels is a simplification of a complex movement. Lizzo has always promoted body acceptance for individuals of all shapes and sizes. She mentioned that the movement started as a response from marginalized groups. These groups often faced discrimination based on their body size or abilities. Lizzo noted that her own journey with body positivity began in 2016 when she decided to challenge society’s standards about her appearance. In her career, Lizzo has made a point to include plus-size dancers and emphasize that all bodies are normal. She also addressed rumors regarding her weight-loss journey, poking fun at them during Halloween by dressing as "LizzOzempic," a playful take on a popular weight-loss medication. Looking ahead, Lizzo is excited about her upcoming album titled “Love in Real Life,” which she announced is complete. She has already released two songs from the album and is set to perform on Saturday Night Live next month, continuing to spread her message of self-love and confidence.
