Local BNP leader killed in factional clash in Bangladesh

A local leader of the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) died after a violent clash between two factions of the party. Md Rashed, 27, was critically injured during the fighting and later died on his way to a hospital in Dhaka. The clash took place at Nuruddin Bazar in South Sakuchia Union on Wednesday morning. It was triggered by a disagreement over embankment construction being done by the Water Development Board. At least ten other people from both sides suffered injuries in the violence. According to police, supporters from both the BNP and the Awami League were involved in the altercation. Following Rashed’s death, his family filed a complaint. Police are currently conducting operations to apprehend those responsible for the incident.
