Local calls for action on speeding after fatal crash
A man in his 40s died in a crash on Hednesford Road in Staffordshire on Saturday, March 22. The collision involved two vehicles, a grey Land Rover and a grey MG. The driver of the MG died at the scene, while the occupants of the Land Rover were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police confirmed that the victim’s family is being supported by specially trained officers. Local resident Alfie Mantel expressed concerns about speeding on Hednesford Road. Mantel, who was traveling home shortly after the crash, shared that he might have been involved if his parents had not waited for him. He noted that drivers often exceed the 30 mph speed limit, sometimes going as fast as 40 or 50 mph. He called for action to improve road safety, referencing previous fatal accidents on the same road. Residents have reported that this is not the first serious incident on Hednesford Road. A motorcyclist was killed at a nearby junction a few months ago. Mantel mentioned that there used to be a speed camera in the area, which may have helped prevent crashes. Staffordshire Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to contact them, referencing incident number 510 of March 22.
