A young man from Logansport was arrested on Monday after a high school student reported alleged abuse to her teacher. Adrian Hernandez, 19, faces serious charges including Criminal Confinement and Strangulation. Both charges are level 6 felonies, and he is also charged with Domestic Battery, a Class A misdemeanor. Hernandez’s bond was set at $1,000 cash or $5,000 surety. He was issued a no contact order with the student. The incident came to light when a school resource officer, Sergeant Travis Nolte, was informed by the assistant principal about the potential abuse. According to documents, the incident began when the student texted Hernandez after finishing work. They argued over social media posts. The student later went to Hernandez's home to retrieve her keys. She alleged that Hernandez blocked her way, pushed her toward the bed, and choked her, making it hard for her to breathe. The student told the officer she had previously suffered bruises and scratches from Hernandez on other occasions. Although she was afraid of him, she hesitated to report the incidents completely as she did not want to see him jailed. When Nolte questioned Hernandez, he denied any wrongdoing before being taken into custody. Hernandez is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing.
