London's Original Print Fair celebrates 40th anniversary
The London Original Print Fair (LOPF) is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The fair features exclusive prints and editions from well-known artists and will take place at Somerset House from March 20-23, 2025. Since its founding in 1985 by eight print dealers, LOPF has grown significantly. The event now showcases a wide range of prints, spanning six centuries of printmaking. This year, more than 40 exhibitors will participate, including prestigious galleries and publishers. Director Helen Rosslyn expressed pride in reaching this milestone. She noted the evolution of printmaking and the increasing appreciation for this art form. Many works at the fair are specially commissioned for the anniversary, including a unique woodcut poster by artist Tom Hammick. Notable contributions include new prints by Gavin Turk, Tracey Emin, and David Shrigley. The event also highlights international artists from countries like China, Japan, and India. This year emphasizes emerging talents, including limited edition prints from seven Indian artists. LOPF also celebrates the history of printmaking. It features rare prints from the 18th century and works from 20th-century artists. The fair remains dedicated to showcasing art in a non-hierarchical and inclusive atmosphere. Visitors can meet artists and dealers, making it a unique experience for art enthusiasts.
