Louisville women defeat Nebraska, advance in NCAA Tournament
Tajianna Roberts led the Louisville women's basketball team with 16 points as they defeated Nebraska 63-58 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game took place in Fort Worth, Texas. Louisville, a seventh-seed in the tournament, fought back after Nebraska started the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run. This marks a significant improvement for the Cardinals, who were eliminated in the first round last season. They now advance to face TCU, a second-seed team and home host. Jayda Curry contributed to the victory by scoring important points late in the game. She made two free throws and drew a charging foul within the last minute. Olivia Cochran also added 14 points for Louisville. For Nebraska, Britt Prince was the top scorer with 14 points. The upcoming game against TCU will be notable, as Louisville will face former player Hailey Van Lith, who transferred to TCU after previously helping Louisville reach three Elite Eight appearances. The Horned Frogs are currently unbeaten at home this season.
