Lucknow launches cleanliness campaign to improve sanitation

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will begin a special cleanliness campaign soon. This effort aims to improve sanitation and prevent diseases spread by mosquitoes. Officials are focusing on several key actions. They will increase fogging and use drones for spraying insecticides. Special attention will be paid to cleaning public spaces, such as markets and religious sites in the city. To target areas most at risk, LMC has identified hotspots where these actions will take place to fight dengue, malaria, and other waterborne diseases. The municipal health officer and additional municipal commissioner will oversee cleaning efforts in various public areas. A priority for the campaign is cleaning the Gomti River. Municipal commissioner Indrajeet Singh has emphasized the need to remove accumulated water hyacinth. Keeping the river clean is vital for the city's environment and water supply. LMC is urging residents to help by not littering. A public awareness campaign will be launched to encourage community involvement. Singh has also instructed the additional municipal commissioner to work with councillors from all wards to tackle local cleanliness issues. The LMC will closely monitor the campaign’s progress. Their goal is to keep Lucknow clean, safe, and free of diseases, especially during the festive season.
