Ludhiana launches project supporting domestic violence victims

In Ludhiana, a Lok Adalat was held to address women's grievances related to domestic violence and family disputes. The event was attended by over 60 women and was led by Raj Lali Gill, chairperson of the Punjab state women’s commission, and Gurpreet Kaur Deo, special director general of police. During the Lok Adalat, many complaints were heard and resolved on the spot. Gill emphasized that this initiative is designed to protect women's rights and offer quick solutions to their problems. Deo announced plans to hold similar events in every district to raise awareness and assist more women. Additionally, the second phase of the ‘Sanjh Rahat Project’ was launched at the event. This project supports women who experience domestic violence and are admitted to the emergency ward in the civil hospital. At the Sanjh Rahat center, two counselors and two women police officials are ready to help victims with support and counseling. The project is a joint effort involving several organizations, including NGOs and government departments. It aims to provide psycho-social and legal support to help victims live without violence.
