Ludhiana man receives life sentence for wife's murder
A man in Ludhiana has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife. The court rejected his claims that she had affairs with other men. It found no evidence to support his accusations and confirmed the prosecution's case. The Additional Sessions Judge, Barinder Singh Ramana, also imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on the man, Haseen. If he cannot pay the fine, he will face an additional year in prison. Haseen was arrested in August 2022 after allegedly cutting his wife's throat with a knife. According to police reports, Haseen's landlord took his wife to a hospital, where she was declared dead. Police arrested Haseen after their investigation and charged him with murder under Indian law. During the trial, Haseen claimed he was falsely accused and argued that his wife had an affair with his landlord and another man. However, the court found his defense unsatisfactory and noted that he did not provide evidence to support his claims. The court pointed out that Haseen's jealousy may have led to a fight that resulted in his wife's murder. They found that the prosecution's witnesses were credible and supported the case. The judge concluded that the evidence showed Haseen committed the crime.
