Ludhiana travel agent threatened with ₹50 lakh extortion

A travel agent in Ludhiana has reported an extortion attempt by someone claiming to be a gangster from the United States. The caller demanded ₹50 lakh and made threats against the agent's family. The complaint was filed after the agent received a WhatsApp call on March 16 from an unknown number. The caller, who identified himself as Prabh Dasuwal, said he knew personal details about the agent's family, including their daily routines and where they park their cars. The travel agent operates a business on Gill Road and specializes in visas for Dubai and Saudi Arabia. He expressed fear for his family’s safety due to the threats made during the call. The extortion demand included instructions to deliver the money to a location in Tarn Taran. Local police have registered a case and are investigating. They have logged the complaint under several sections concerning criminal threats and extortion. Officials are working to trace the identity of the caller, who used a phone number registered in Spain.
