Lynn gang leader pleads guilty to RICO charges
A 26-year-old man, known as "Number One," has pleaded guilty to serious charges related to gang activities. Aaron Diaz Liranzo, who led the Lynn Chapter of the Trinitarios gang, admitted to participating in racketeering and a shooting incident. The shooting occurred outside a Lynn nightclub in March 2019. Diaz Liranzo shot at three people in a car, leaving two of them with severe injuries. The attack was aimed at rival gang members, and the victims were tricked into coming to the scene by another gang member who pretended to need a ride. Diaz Liranzo's plea comes amid a larger crackdown on gang activity in Massachusetts. He is one of 22 gang members recently charged with crimes. The U.S. District Attorney's office considers this a major victory against organized crime in the area. Diaz Liranzo has been the gang's leader since at least 2021. He could face a life sentence and a fine of $250,000 when he is sentenced on June 25. The Trinitarios gang has been connected to multiple murders, attempted murders, and other violent crimes in Essex County over the last decade.
