M1 motorway near East Midlands Airport closed, causing delays

In a separate incident, another motorway, the M5, faced similar chaos after a tragic accident yesterday. A woman was hit and killed by a lorry early this morning. The collision happened around 3 AM near Bridgwater, leading to a closure of both directions between junctions 23 and 24. Emergency services responded quickly, but the woman, who was in her 70s, sadly died at the scene. The authorities are keeping her family updated on the situation. While the southbound lane of the M5 has reopened, the northbound lane remains closed as investigations continue. Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area.
