Macomb County police chase results in drug arrest
A police chase in Macomb County led to the arrest of a 39-year-old man on drug charges. The incident occurred early on the morning of March 14. Authorities say a sheriff's deputy noticed a black BMW that was driving erratically on I-94. The deputy checked the car's license plates and discovered that the owner had a warrant for fraud. When the officer tried to stop the vehicle, the driver ignored the signals and sped away at 60 mph. The chase continued as the driver exited the highway, taking various local roads in Chesterfield Township. The BMW eventually parked, and the driver fled on foot but was quickly captured by the police. During the arrest, officers found drugs both on the driver and in the BMW. The driver, identified as Daniele Giannone, is facing multiple charges. These include failing to stop at an accident, operating without proper security and license plates, and possession of a controlled substance. He was given a bond set at $20,000.
