Macon man arrested for DUI, reckless driving in Oconee
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported several incidents over the past two weeks. On March 3, a deputy pulled over a Lexus on Georgia Highway 316. The 20-year-old driver from Loganville had darkly tinted windows and a suspended license. He was arrested. Later that day, a 33-year-old man from Athens was caught shoplifting at Walmart. He was seen skipping items like lemons and steak. After questioning, he became emotional and was taken to jail. Also on March 3, a Ford F-150 was clocked going 62 mph in a 45-mph zone. The 28-year-old driver from Barrow County said he didn't have his license with him but had a digital copy. However, his license was suspended, leading to his arrest. There were multiple reports of vehicles being entered at night on March 4. A Chrysler had $50 cash and a wallet stolen, while guns were taken from two pickups. On March 3, a man attempted to shoplift an ice maker from Walmart using a cheap barcode. He left the store in a gray Nissan Maxima, and authorities are seeking a warrant for his arrest. From March 7 to 8, deputies received calls about a gray Ford F-150 being driven recklessly from Watkinsville to Bishop. One caller felt threatened and reported the truck swerving. The driver, a 27-year-old man from Macon, was stopped after backing over a curb. He smelt of alcohol and was arrested for DUI and reckless driving. On March 6, at a Racetrac gas station, a man was causing issues inside a restroom. When deputies arrived, they discovered he was wanted on a warrant and found him in possession of methamphetamine. Finally, on March 7, a 54-year-old man from Bogart was pulled over for swerving. He admitted he had been drinking and was arrested for DUI. A shotgun was found inside his vehicle.
