Macron criticizes Putin for not wanting peace in Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that he does not sincerely want peace. This statement followed severe Russian attacks on Ukraine, particularly the city of Odesa, which left three teenagers injured and caused significant destruction. Macron voiced his support for Ukraine on social media, sharing images of the damage in Odesa. He emphasized that recent Russian actions demonstrate a clear disregard for peace. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky echoed this sentiment, calling for a united effort from Ukraine's allies to pressure Moscow and end the ongoing violence. Tensions are high as both Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of breaking a ceasefire related to energy targets. On Friday, the Sudzha gas pipeline in Russia was damaged, which Ukraine claims was a deliberate act by Russia to justify their attacks. Meanwhile, Russia's defense ministry accused Ukraine of attacking the pipeline while retreating. Andriy Yermak, chief of staff for Zelensky, dismissed Russia's claims as false. He argued that the international community would not accept Russia's attempts to portray itself as committed to peace. The ongoing situation highlights escalating struggles and challenges for negotiation between the two countries.
