Madin Academy is preparing for a large prayer event on Thursday, March 27, in honor of ‘Lailathul Qadr,’ a significant night for Muslims during Ramzan. This event is expected to be one of the biggest gatherings outside of Makkah and Madina during the holy month. The Chairman of Madin Academy, Syed Ibrahim Khaleel Bukhari, stated that the prayer meeting has been an annual tradition for over twenty years. Tens of thousands of attendees from across the State are anticipated to participate. At the event, a pledge against drug use will be made, launching a year-long campaign aimed at reducing drug addiction. This campaign, led by the Madin Institute of Mental Health and Rehabilitation (MIMHAR), aims to raise awareness among one lakh students and distribute drug-free documents to ten lakh families. The initiative includes a 1,000 km anti-drug awareness rally, free counseling, and a de-addiction helpline. There will also be webinars for parents titled ‘explore your children’. The prayer event on Thursday will showcase several programs, with prominent scholars and spiritual leaders expected to join. The main prayer sessions will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until 3 a.m. the following morning. A large community meal, or Iftar, will be organized, potentially marking the largest gathering of its kind in the country, with over one lakh attendees expected. Organizers are setting up extensive support services, including over 100 helpline counters and arrangements for meals for those traveling from farther areas.
