Madras High Court reserves order on Senthilbalaji case
The Madras High Court has not yet made a decision on a request to block a special court's order regarding several job racket cases against Tamil Nadu's electricity minister, V Senthilbalaji. This decision came after a hearing on March 21, led by Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan. The request was filed by an NGO called Anti-Corruption Movement. They are challenging the order to merge multiple chargesheets in the ongoing cases. As a result of this merger, the total number of accused has increased from 47 to 2,256. Additionally, the number of witnesses involved has grown from 112 to 668. The petitioner stated that if the merger goes through, it could take around 1,500 years to finish cross-examining all witnesses. However, the prosecution argued that the charges in the merged sheets are very similar. This information has also been shared with the Supreme Court.
