Magnitude 4.1 earthquake strikes Nueva Era in Ilocos Norte

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake hit Nueva Era town in Ilocos Norte on Saturday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake occurred at 7:17 p.m., five kilometers east of the town. The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a shallow depth of five kilometers. Phivolcs reported that the quake reached Intensity IV in nearby Sinait, Ilocos Sur. There are no expected damages or aftershocks following the earthquake, as noted by Phivolcs.
