Mahakumbh in Prayagraj showcases India's unity and spirit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the recent Mahakumbh festival in Prayagraj during a session in the Lok Sabha. He praised the event, calling it a symbol of India's rising spirit and unity. The Prime Minister thanked the millions of people who contributed to the success of the Mahakumbh. The Mahakumbh took place between January 13 and February 26, 2025. It is a significant Hindu pilgrimage festival held at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. According to the UP government, more than 660 million people attended, making it the largest gathering in the world. Modi highlighted how the Mahakumbh encouraged unity among diverse groups. He spoke of the importance of community, using the phrase "Vayam" to emphasize teamwork over individuality. Many people, despite differences in language and culture, came together to celebrate at the Sangam. This unity reflects the motto "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat," meaning a united India. The Prime Minister also mentioned the need to protect rivers, inspired by the Kumbh celebrations. He suggested that river festivals could increase awareness about water conservation for future generations. Modi concluded by stating that the Mahakumbh showcased India's strengths and helped inspire national pride.
