Maharashtra addresses illegal buildings crisis in Dombivli
The government is stepping in to address the crisis of 65 illegal buildings in Dombivli. Revenue Minister Chandrakant Bawankule has directed four key departments to prepare a report on these buildings, which the Mumbai High Court has ordered to be demolished. A meeting was held on Wednesday to discuss these illegal constructions, which were built using RERA certificates. Bawankule has asked the KDMC, RERA, the Urban Development Department, and the Thane Collector to finalize the report within four days. This will be presented in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The meeting was requested by BJP's State Working President and local MLA, Ravindra Chavan. He emphasized that the government is committed to preventing residents from losing their homes. Many of these residents bought their properties with hard-earned money and bank loans. Bawankule mentioned that the state may consider relaxing regulations to help genuine home buyers. He also noted that this issue will be brought up in a future cabinet meeting. Previously, the KDMC had planned to demolish the buildings based on the High Court's orders.
