Maharashtra Congress chief compares Fadnavis to Aurangzeb
Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal claimed on Saturday that the administration of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is similar to that of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. His comments have sparked strong criticism from the ruling alliance, which accused him of disrespecting Fadnavis. They have even called for legal action against him. Sapkal spoke to reporters about the poor law and order situation in the state. He emphasized that Maharashtra needs a full-time home minister, as Fadnavis currently manages this role along with being the chief minister. He highlighted recent incidents of violence, including a murder in Beed and a rape in Pune, expressing concern over a lack of effective police presence. "The state is under Tughlaqi rule," he stated, maintaining that Fadnavis’s governance resembles that of Aurangzeb. He also mentioned that drugs arriving in Pune are linked to Gujarat but criticized the police for not investigating this connection. Sapkal argued that Fadnavis should resign so that the state can have a dedicated home minister. When asked about former Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar joining the Shiv Sena, he remarked on the lack of political ideology among some leaders, noting Dhangekar's repeated attempts to gain power.
