Maharashtra government schools to adopt CBSE curriculum
The Maharashtra government will adopt the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum in its state-run schools starting in the academic year 2025-26. Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse made the announcement on Thursday. Textbooks will be available in Marathi by April 1. The decision aims to improve the quality of education for students. The Minister confirmed that this change comes after approval from the Steering Committee. This move aligns with the National Education Policy currently being implemented in the state for students from classes 3 to 12. Bhuse addressed a question from BJP legislator Prasad Lad in the Legislative Council. Lad wanted to confirm whether the CBSE curriculum had been approved by the Steering Committee. The minister reiterated that the adoption of the CBSE pattern is intended to enhance students' learning experiences in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently reviewed the school education department's progress and expressed confidence that Maharashtra would lead in school education again. He emphasized the need for quality education and instructed the Education Department to make the necessary changes for implementing the CBSE curriculum.
